Nonsense. I am not trying to convince anyone of anything and couldn’t care less which program anyone patronizes. I just provide a fact-based counter-argument to the nonstop, ad nauseam “Hyatt is best” kool-aid, which refers to an expensive and limited redemption option (tiny footprint) program that does not even offer its members the 4th or 5th award night free — quantifiably the single most valuable perk in hotel loyalty — while g HH, a rock solid and rewarding program for years for those who can take advantage of it, is endlessly denigrated as in this blog post.

You’d be a lot more convincing addressing my claims and showing factually them to be bogus…

Since April 2022, I have had 4 Hilton stays in the US and got suite upgrades on 3 of the stays, with the last occurring early this month at Embassy Suites Chicago Magnificent Mile, an all-suites property where upgrades to “premium” suites are not even a HH Diamond benefit. As a LT Diamond, however, I was upgraded to a King Corner Premium Suite and I got ES’s iconic free “cooked to order” breakfast. In fact, the negative claims are so over the top even for Hilton properties in the US that one suspects that you are a “fake HH Diamond”. Even in the US, Diamonds do get upgraded to better rooms, though suite upgrades are harder to come by than overseas…

The US lounges are mostly poor (not only Hilton but also Marriott ang IHG).
Nowadays I stay mostly at IHG properties in the US. ( being IHG diamond ambassador and Hilton Diamond and Marriott lifetime Plat (currently also Titanium)

To me, a “guaranteed” late checkout benefit that is capped at, say, 4pm, is even more worthless because as one who prefers and plans to take early flights, the only time late checkouts have been meaningful to me has been when I had night flights that would have gotten me to the airport too early if forced to check out by 4pm, so I prefer the optional and uncapped late checkout benefit. In general, I do not value the benefit much because I am usually out of the hotel by 2pm anyway. The late checkout benefit has never been one of my criteria for selecting which hotel to book or program to patronize…

Try requesting a 6pm checkout when the “guarantee” is to 4pm, and let us know how it goes…
