I have done this with Hertz several times it was cheaper and a better experience with more personalized customer service.

You can’t argue no matter what. Just a few weeks ago I witnessed a poor woman banned from a flight because she tried to board early. Obviously a language issue, but the gate agents refused to listen. The woman’s pleas for help were treated as ‘unruly behavior’ and as others tried to intervene we were also threatened to be banned from flying.

This gentleman needs to file a civil rights complaint. But better than that, I guarantee that I and thousands more will never risk renting from Hertz or their subsidiaries.

The clutch was burnt up and we got an automatic and had a great trip. Months later they tried to bill us for the clutch saying we had damaged it, and our insurance we purchased was void because of neglect.

We made them reconcile how long the car was rented, like 10 minutes. It took months of fighting with them until they finally said it was an error. Never again with them.

Go to the Hertz counter at a smaller airport and you’ll probably be redirected to the Thrifty counter, and vice-versa. Hertz used to be the ‘Gold Standard’ … no more. They’re the most expensive and yet you’re still forced to interact with the criminally incompetent. Sad …
