Delta Air Lines and Hertz on Monday enhanced the SkyMiles earning rates for car rentals effective immediately, moving from a fixed number of miles earned per rental to one based on the underlying revenue.
SkyMiles elite members can get Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Five Star (Silver & Gold) or President’s Circle (Platinum & Diamond) tier.
You can access Delta’s page for the Hertz partnership here.
Hertz SkyMiles Earning Rates Until January 30, 2023:
Hertz SkyMiles Earning Rates From January 30, 2023:
Comparison:
- Silver: 1,300 (previously) – 5 miles per USD (now) = $260
- Gold: 1,300 (previously) – 6 miles per USD (now) = $217
- Platinum: 1,550 (previously – 7 miles per USD (now) = $221
- Diamond: 1,500 (previously) – 8 miles per USD (now) = $188
Conclusion
The new earning rates that are based on the rental charge, I would assume without all the extras, are better, in general, for rentals of more than $200.
You could earn much better under the previously fixed schedule if your rentals are short and inexpensive.
