SQ employees always received a bonus. Sure depending on the companies fiscal performance and in the years before COVID was more along the lines of 2 monthly salaries but there were times that 6 a month salary bonus was paid before.

They are doing this to show a offer of goodwill to retain employees, not out of the goodness of their hearts.
